I can roller skate very well, would I be able to ice skate easily?

There are some things that will come easily to you because you can roller skate, and others that will be hard. Stopping is different, of course, as is spinning and some of the jumps. But your experience roller skating will definately help you.

One girl at my rink skates beautifully. She started about a year ago, on ice, but she'd done years on roller skates beforehand.

You should also know that Tara Lipinsky, Olympic gold medallist in figure skating, started as a roller skater. In addition, a lot of (in fact, most of) the people on the US Olympic team in speed skating are former inline-skaters. So the skills do transfer, to a certain extent.

Yes it is pretty much the same thing, the only difference is stopping, which is quite hard to learn on ice.
Reply:it depends stopping is really different. cool thing is that it hurts a lot less when u fall. rollerblading really helped me to develop my ice skating. u learn how to push off and crossover well
Reply:You'll probably be able to learn much faster than others who haven't dun roller skating or any type of skating at all, but it might just take a little while to get used to the ice - it can be slippery. It really depends for each person...
Reply:Personally, I find it easier to ice skate. But most other people find it much, much easier to roller-skate, as it's not as slippery. Practice roller-skating on a slippery surface, or just have a go at ice skating!
Reply:Dunno. I'm an atrocious roller skater (well, not terrible), but I can jump and spin on ice after only 7 months. It all depends.
Reply:need much stronger ankles...cant predict but i rollered good and couldnt skate.
Reply:I don't know, I can ice skate but can't roller skate. You do need much stronger ankles to ice skate.
Reply:Yes , sure.....

don't worry my friend.
Reply:I think so. If you love anything, you can do anything. Hope your dream comes true.

Good luck!
