Will roller skating give me slim legs??

I want to tone and slim my legs for the summer and was thinking about buying roller skates cos think this would be fun!! Would i need to go really fast to make a difference and for how long a day?? Don't want to build up muscle too much...this just make them look bigger!! Thanks xx

Will roller skating give me slim legs??
It depends on you body type and build as well as metabolism. Some people's legs will slim down quickly, some won't and some like myself will likely tone and build muscle but look significantly thinner.
Reply:Well,, not only will it slim down ur legs a bitt, but it will also give you a little bit of leg muscle. but not too to much
Reply:i think they will tone ur leg muscles more then anything but give it a world
Reply:you will get some muscles in them
Reply:no it will not slim ypur legs as asked .however it will give muscle tone.
Reply:I think so, but everything in moderation.

Hope this helped!

Mac
Reply:not onley will it tone your legs but also your butt
Reply:yes just make sure u moove unlike my bro stay on to somthing only kk
Reply:I guess....try roller blades instead they are easier they look hard but once you get the hang of it it's really fun!

But you will also build muscle.
Reply:roller skating will generally build muscle in your legs.

and will tone and slim them.
Reply:I do it and they look great!!! I think you should go for it. I also think it is very good exersise so you get a workout too. I luv 2 sk8. I don't think it can make NE 1s leggs bigger muscle wise. Go 4 it!!! Hope I helped!!!
Reply:i think so
Reply:I'd say so. The roller skating girls that work at sonic seem to be in good shape. well, at least around where I live.
Reply:yes
Reply:Yes, your using mostly leg muscles to push your self.

I felt it in my inner thigh the most when I skate as a little boy.
Reply:No i an a roller stater and it makes ur legges bigger because ur leggs will grow more muscle like mine. I think u should run on a tread mill or just run
Reply:you would lose weight and burn calories etc. but you can't spot lose weight it all comes off slowly from everywhere but it could give u more leg muscle
Reply:butt- if you lay on ur stomach and squeeze your butt and lift ur legs and it'll tone ur butt
Reply:I would think so.
Reply:I don't think that roller skating would be the best way to slim your legs. Try work outs to burn the fat. Your legs would not become to "bulky" like a man's legs, but your legs would be much stronger. But if you want to have fun while exercising, do it with your friends at a gym.
Reply:Yes, the skating would tone your leg muscle and burn calories, which of course would cause you to lose weight. I wouldn't push it in time or speed when you start out, maybe 30-45 minutes at a comfortable pace. The longer you skate the more calories you burn, so you don't need to go too fast. The faster you go the more muscle you will build. Go for longer periods of time at comfortable speeds.
Reply:Skating would be a good way to get in shape. It will tone you up. Then start to build muscle. Stop when you start getting too thick.
Reply:NO, TRY DOING LEG WORK OUTS WITH WEIGHTS, YOU WILL LOSE FAT AND TONE THEM UP REAL SEXY
Reply:yeah i really think it would help and olny about 1 hour a day maybe
Reply:yeah it would help!

maybe going up little hills and building it up?

going fast could help you!

GOOD LUCK!!!

:D
Reply:Yes, it might, but it can also make them more muscular. Roller skating is a great exercise for burning calories though.
Reply:yes very, it work your muscles and slims out your legs %26amp; makes them very healthy
Reply:I not sure if roller skating will help but things like swimming and biking do for sure trust me iv'e been there and not to brag i look hot so probably you would just have to keep up your sport ( in your case ) roller bladeing. Just practice your sport every day! Good Luck:)
Reply:dont kno much about skating but swimming sure as hell will

Does anybody still roller-skate?

I love roller skating outdoors at the park. Just wondering if anybody still roller-skates. It's so fun!

Does anybody still roller-skate?
Yes as a matter of fact they do. There is an organization called USARS for competitions and such for all roller sports in the US and there is an International ars as well that holds world competitions. People of all ages are in this sport from 4 years old to 80. I would check out there site and find a competition near you they are every fun to watch.

BTW, they are trying to petition to have it included in the olympics.
Reply:Yes we still roller skate! We play roller derby! Check out www.ocrollergirls.com or www.myspace.com/psychexgirlfri... Report It

Is roller skating popular?

when i was walking down the street two years ago, at least 3 kids would pass me on roller skates. Now, i rarely see people with skates on. Give me your opinion

Is roller skating popular?
When you say "roller skating", I am assuming you mean inline skating (because you mentioned only 2 years ago) and not quad skating ("my" generation would associate roller skating with the quad skates). Even at 10 years ago quad skates would not be have been popular on the streets.

I don't know for a fact that inline skating is less popular - though it is possible. It could depend on where you are. There are still inline skaters where I live . . . though, you are right, not as many . . . but the beaches and parks here are still filled with recreational skaters.

Perhaps there are several reasons why it is less popular - IF it is indeed getting less popular:

Parents are really up on safety these days. Inline skating has its potential hazards and parents are being more cautious about what they allow their kids to do. (Many families are without health insurance these days too . . . . .).

Aggressive skating has become popular . . . again, some parents may not want their kids skating thinking it may lead to that. On that note, these skaters can be found at a skate park or in a particular area for doing their tricks . . . not so much just taking a stroll through the neighborhood!

Other wheeled products have come onto the market: scooters, cool skateboards, skate shoes - other fads. Next? Not to mention those for sedentary activities like video games and such . . . you don't see as many children playing outside these days, sadly.

It's sometimes inconvenient to put the skates plus the safety gear on and off - you can't really enter anywhere. How many places do you see now that do not allow skating? With a scooter, skateboard, or skate shoes, you still have your shoes on and it's just a matter of tucking away your equipment.

Anyway, just some of my thoughts.
Reply:Depends on where you live at. Ask around.
Reply:Yes,I remember the kids would be out rollerskating, but then it was the scooter thing and now I hardly see any children out. I am thinking they have the tv and electronic game systems....I wish they would come out for some fresh air, summer is coming to an end very rapidly.
Reply:roller skating is still popular, expecially by the beach, and at roller rinks. but as time passes by, more ppl, unfortunately like me, spend more time inside than outside, like on the computer or tv. sad...
Reply:It's sort of like Razor scooters - the fad has died down. Everyone still has them in the garage, but they don't use them as much.

Using skates as a method of transportation has always been a problem because you needed to carry shoes/sneakers with you to change into once you got where you were going.

Heelies and Shoeskates alleviated that obstacle because you could (sort of) walk in them. Unfortunately, some wearers couldn't control themselves, especially in smooth-floored places and they annoyed people. Now when you walk into stores or the Mall, there are signs and security guards that prohibit skates and heelies. Many people pop out their wheels when they get places and use the Heelies as sneakers for this reason.

I've seen a lot of growth in roller skating RINKS and skate parks. Many skaters have stopped skating in front of their houses/schools and started using those places for skating. The indoor skaters don't want to wear down their wheels on concrete, so they stopped skating outdoors entirely.

The trick skaters (and skateboarders) try to not annoy people, so they stick to out-of-the way parks and parking lots. (So no one calls the cops to complain.)

In some ways, this has affected skateboarders as well; the parks with grind rails and ramps are more fun than the plywood jump ramp in the parking lot of the KFC that falls down when you get to the top. LOL
Reply:That's because they pretty much died alongside the eighties. Kind of unfortunate though, they were pretty fun.
Reply:right now skateboarding is most popular. I love skateboarding
Reply:Wow! I'm not certain how old you are or where you're from, but roller skating has come back with a vengeance! Old school roller skating (ie on quad skates, two wheels in front, two wheels in back) is becoming more popular than before. You may not see too many skaters in the streets, but they are packing the roller rinks. With the resurgence of roller derby, more and more people are dusting off their quads and heading to the rink. Also with recent movies like ATL and Roll Bounce, many people are "jam skating" again, which takes great skill and balance and is really cool to watch. Do an search online for roller skating, roller derby, and/or jam skating. You will be amazed at what you find! Blue Mayhem H4, Alamo City Roller Girls

How to do roller skating !! i lose my balance as wheels are on 1 side.?
Skating is easy and fun once you get the hang of it....Stand with your back against the wall when you have your skates - push off and do your very best to stand straight up... I do great on blades but not skates - it's different for everyone so make sure your using whats most comfortable for you - don't concentrate on name brand until you learn the technique... Stopping isn't very easy so once you get a small rhythm going, make sure to practice stopping.... You can take lessons at any skating rink. Good luck %26amp; have fun.
Reply:well rollerblading is hard trust me and if u keep on trying then try mre well try to get someone to help u who already has experience or like a big bro or sis or make a line with rop or something and try holdin it and rollerblading at the same time that's the best i can tell u and if u fall alot REMEMBER TO WEAR UR HELMET!
Reply:LOL......just go out and keep tryin and u will get better
Reply:what you need to do is keep both feet on floor and do the " V" thing with one foot at a time and keep your arms out when doing this .
Reply:i guess it came easy to me as a former figure skater, but i think if you're brave enough you could try ice skating, too. it might help you to learn to rollerblade. if not then just keep practicing. practice on tennis courts, if you can. they're a LITTLE softer yet they are also more slippery. yes use a helmet and maybe wrist gaurds

have fun, too!!!
Reply:I think you mean roller blading? If so, yes an acute angle, just like ice skating. Practice makes perfect, just skate as much as you can and you will eventually become comfortable.

How can i learn to roller skate fast?

I buyed new silicone roller skates.I know how to roller skate but on these skates i can't skate.i want to know any tricks on how to learn to skate.

How can i learn to roller skate fast?
Are they quads/inlines?

Generally, bend your knees and try to stride to the side instead of "kicking" behind you.

Reply:Learning how to skate fast.. is relative as to WHY you want to skate fast. As a former Jr. Olympic Speed Skater and Roller Derby Trainer.. its all relative. Skating fast has all to do with techinque.. body position.. equipment.. etc... A little more information is required to give you a helpful answer.

Roller derby ppl and any roller skate person help?
I tried to check out your choices through your links, but they all just go to the homepage for lowpriceskates.

The R3's are a good starters. I've noticed that girls playing rollerderby that have purchased skates like these end up upgrading in 1-2 years to leather boots, better wheels and bearings. It depends on how serious you are about it. Whether or not you play derby, skating is great exercise!

You can always build your own "package." I prefer leather boots only because they will conform to your feet better and last you longer. I've had my Reidell boots for 20 years now, and they still rock! I also like metal trucks and plates. Yes, plastic is lighter, but I've heard from girls' that through tuff use they will eventually crack. As far as wheels are concerned, if you are playing derby as you know the track is small and tight, so you need a wheel with some grip. Girls on my team have used Hyper Witch Doctors and love them. I've been using Matter D-Rods for the past 2 years, at least twice a week, and they still work great. There is a temptation to buy cheap wheels, but you will find that you'll have to replace them often and you won't get the gripiness you'll need for the tight track. Matter also has new derby wheels that are cheaper that the D-Rods that I'm going to be trying when mine wear out. Bearings? The best bet are Bones Reds...same technology as Swiss but manufactured in China and much cheaper. And, you can transfer the bearing to your new wheels when they wear.

Outdoor wheels I just go for cheap. I've never really experienced a difference, and normally get any ole bearing since performance outside isn't important -- I just like getting fresh air once in awhile!

Also, shop around the net -- I found my wheels at 1/2 the price through one of the oneline stores. And make sure to maintenance them reguarly by rotating the wheels, cleaning you bearings, and oiling them.

See you on the track!

Roller skating?

I have no idea whatsoever how to roller skate, but I'm gonna go to a b-day party at a rollerskating place. (skates aren't inline) Can someone please explain to me how to skate, or at least give a helpful website?

Roller skating?
The skates you are talking about are also called 'quad' skates', and here's an excellent article that I found on the internet (hope it helps!):

"The most important aspect of roller skating is balance. It will take some practice to feel comfortable on your skates, but it's worth remembering two things: (1) you need to distribute your body weight evenly on both feet and over the centre of each foot; and (2) don't bend at the waist in an attempt to "propel" yourself forward. If you bend anywhere, it should only be at the knees. Basically, you want to maintain an erect body position with your centre of gravity squarely over your skates.

If you attempt to stand completely still on your skates when you have both feet pointing forward, you may find that you start to roll forward without even trying. The solution to this - is also the basic starting and stopping position. Basically, this means positioning yourself with one foot forward and the other foot pointed slightly to the side and back so that your feet together form a basic T or V position.

To start skating, lean over the front foot by bending the knee and exerting a little pressure, and push off with the back foot. Coast forward on the front skate and then gradually bring your other foot forward and repeat the movement of exerting pressure on the front foot and pushing off on the back one and then gliding. You should aim for a smooth motion, and that means pushing off strongly to the outside, gliding and then bringing your skate back under your body in a rounded movement. It's a mistake to aim for an absolute poker-straight action. Although your body is moving forward, your legs will sway from side to side somewhat as you shift your body weight from the gliding skate to the pushing skate and back again. It will take some time before you feel the smoothness, but try to concentrate on how you feel and adjust the length of the glide, the intensity of the pushing action and your body-lean if you feel you have a jerking action.

It's almost like cross-country skiing: if you push off too soon, you'll throw yourself off balance; push off too late, and the power you generate is wasted because your centre of gravity is too far ahead of the leg generating the forward push. You will know that the moment of striding is ill timed if you find yourself bending too far forward at the waist and feeling that you are on the verge of hitting the deck nose-first!

Learning to change direction and veer to the left or right is a bit more tricky. But you should practice coasting on one skate and moving your weight from the centre of the skate to the inside or outside wheels depending on whether you want to turn to the right or left.

Now that you are able to move forward, how do you stop? Roller skates are equipped with a large rubber toe-stop under the front of the skate. You can stop by lifting one skate and pointing the toe down and dragging the rubber stop. However, this can be a very jittery step and, particularly on a rough surface, this technique may throw you completely off balance. A more effective way to slow down is to revert to the T position. Coast on your forward skate, lift and turn the other skate to form the T position and drop the inside wheels gradually to the ground to create the drag that slows you down."

Don't forget to have fun--happy rolling!
Reply:sk8lava's answer was good, although long. There are two things that I always tell my beginner students:

1. Keep your head up! Do not look at the floor. Your head will control the way your body moves. If you look at the floor, your feet will go out behind you, because the weight of your head will pull your whole body forward. (Keep your head, shoulders, and hips over your skates.)

2. Keep your knees slightly bent. They act as shock absorbers. You can't keep your balance if you lock your knees! (This goes back to keeping your head, shoulders, and hips over your skates. If your knees are bent, and you stand up straight, your body will be aligned properly.)

You could always check at your rink to see if they offer skating lessons. It might not hurt to take a group lesson, maybe once or twice before the party (if you have time).

Most of all - REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN! That's what it's all about! Good luck!
Reply:Its sorta like walking. Try that, then coasting, then after you do that, GO LIKE A SPEED DEMON!

Where can I go roller skating in the Metro Detroit area---old school songs and older people.?

I used to love to skate. Now I just need some exercise. I thought I would try roller skating again. I would like to skate with older people, maybe then I won't feel so bad about getting back on some skates and probably breaking my neck. LOL I would rather not go to Roller Wheels in Detroit on Schoolcraft---very bad memories there. Thank you for your answers.

Where can I go roller skating in the Metro Detroit area---old school songs and older people.?
Great Skate
Reply:It matters wat kind of music you like and how urban you wanna get but i would recomend riverside rink because i love that rink and ive been there many times and pretty old school....but if your into skating message me and ill show u some stuff cuz i was the best one at riverside when i went Report It

Reply:Northland Skating rink on 8 mile rd. just west of Lahser rd. Thursday nights at 10:30 til 1:30 25 and older session. Old school music is played, its a lot of fun.
Reply:Another place to check out is Skateworld of Troy, it's on 15 Mile Road and Ryan Rd. They have adult skates from 8-10PM on Sunday and Wednesday nights... don't know about the music, but it's a pretty clean, upbeat place.
Reply:Skateland in Westland on Cherry Hill @ Newbergh...but call first, to see when they have open skate. Also there is another place called Skate N Station in Canton. Also in Lincoln Park, there is a place on Southfield between 75 %26amp; Fort Street. I don't know it's name.

Have fun!
Reply:There are still a few rinks around---they are few and far between nowadays. We go Southwest or outside the city. Lincoln Park---Southfield Rd., Woodhaven or Westland----Skateland I went a few months back with my kids, my brother and sister in law---that was tough on old body but much fun.
Reply:They have a roller rink in Waterford, MI. 48327. At M-59 and Pontiac Lake Rd. You can look that up on mapquest.com. Interestingly I remember going to that Schoolcraft place about 45 years ago. They were very strict back then. If you went to fast, or didn't act right, and I mean RIGHT, you were kicked out.

Do you think figure roller skating is cool?

I am a 13-year-old girl and I can figure skate on roller skates. I'm not that good yet, but I can do spins, and am learning jumps. Do you think roller figure skating is cool? I think it's better than ice, because that's so common these days. Should I take lessons this summer to learn how to figure skate better? I have really good, 200 dollar skates and everything. I just want to know your opinion on roller figure skating...

Do you think figure roller skating is cool?
I think its so cool I've watched videos on youtube and love how its really similar to ice skating (I'm an ice figure skater). I'd love to try it but I can't because I live in Canada and the only club is in like Ontario I think. Do you know?

Lessons would be a great a idea because then you can get trained better and even go to competitions! Just make sure you're in a good club.
Reply:Well i think roller figure skating is cool, i thought about roller figure skating but i already made it far on the ice but i think its rele cool, and its seems very hard,Tara lipinski used to rolller figure skate and u should take lessons, and good luck with your dream Report It

Reply:I absolutely love rollerskating. I did it for 8 years, and went to competitions and what not. It can be a bit of a pricey sport at times, but it's totally worth it. It is way better than ice, although it is much harder. I think you should take lessons, I used to take lessons 4 or 5 days a week for 2 to 5 hours and at one point I was "Juvenile Champion of Canada". That was when I was a lot younger, but I was so proud. :) I no longer participate in rollerskating, because I had thought I grew out of it, but now I'm wishing I could go back and do it again. If you have any questions about rollerskating like techniques or something, send me an email at adnama_c05@yahoo.ca

So yes, it is VERY cool. :)
Reply:Go for it! Whatever you love is cool, don't let anyone tell you different.

You're a cool kid, I'm sure you'll be a great skater.

Is ice skating harder than roller blading?

I can roller skate and roller blade but am deathly afraid to ice skate. I tried lessons when I was really little and quit after one day...I don't think I was even into it at the time.

I know ice skates have much less support and the way I think...if you walk on the ground, its fine. If you walk on ice, you might slip, which leads me to think I'll continually fall ice skating!

Do you need strong ankles? Does roller blading experience help you ice skate?

Is ice skating harder than roller blading?
They are different. I have noticed people who can do either have no problem on the ice.
Reply:If you can roller blade, you can ice skate. Stopping is a little bit different since you don't have a brake, but going forward, backwards, and turning is virtually the same (assuming you're going to have hockey skates). Make sure your skates are tied tight and you should be fine.

Wear gloves so you'll slide if you fall (that's one good thing about ice, you slide rather than get road rash).
Reply:the only difference i felt when i went ice skating for the first time was that the ice was VERY slippery [totally obvious, but i didnt realize it until i actually got on the ice] and when you fall you not only get a bruise, but u also get wet.

yeah- if you can rollerblade well you can probably hold your own ice skating [nothing fancy i'm assuming- just normal stuff] because you have the whole balance thing down.
Reply:Yes. I can roller blade but not ice skate.
Reply:some people find Ice Skating harder then Roller Skating and others find it easier... personally I think its harder.. I guess because I have kind of weak ankles and cant balance well.. but I've heard others say that Roller skating is harder because they get their wheels wrapped around each other..so I guess it is different for everyone..Knowing how to do one will definitely be a benefit for learning the other... and yes, strong ankles are a benefit in Ice Skating..give it a try and see how it goes... good luck!

( and I guess I have never actually tried Roller Blading so I dont know about that)...
Reply:yes it is! ice skating is exactly like rollerblading though, just that u constantly feel like ur gonna fall all the time
Reply:I ice skate but i cant roller blade i fall so i really dont think having experiance with that will make to much of a difference.

you dont really need strong ankles just good skates.

or the blade on the skate is to dull

that will make you fall alot, because it dosent cut into the ice as good.
Reply:I think ice skating is easier, but it's essential that you get a REAL ice skate - one with ankle support and a good sharp blade. If you're comparing roller blading with rental skates, all bets are off. Rental skates are usually so old and worn in the boot is practically a thick sock. A real ice skate will feel like a boot and not bend much. It's not so much about ankle strength as it as about good support.

Also, on a good blade you will be very stable on turns. The edge grabs and keeps you on the ice. On roller blades I always feel like I can't lean into a turn because there's no outside edge on wheels.

Lastly, yes ice is slippery - but there's an advantage to a slippery surface. If you fall while you're moving you're going to slide and disperse that momentum. On concrete or asphalt, if you fall while you're moving you're just going to have road rash. Ouch.
Reply:yeah ice skating is harder
Reply:It is quite a bit harder on the ankles, yes. But the roller blading will help.
Reply:Well for your first q I think they are = because you have to have balence.

for your second qestion buy YOUR OWN!!!!
Reply:uhh YEAH ice skating is A LOT harder than roller blading, 1st, u can cut urself with ur blade 2nd, ur on a blade not wheels, and many other reasons, but you should try ice skating!! i luv it!! dont be afraid, u'll b fine!! just dont trry somethin stupid
Reply:I learned to ice skate when I was 5 years old and it didn't take much practice to get down the basics. After an hour I was a natural. At age 9 I got Rollerblades and it was a completely different thing.

I would say that rollerblading is not going to help you with ice skating, but ice skating is not that hard and should be pretty easy to learn.
Reply:Im a clumsy clumsy woman, and I can ice skate very well ! At first you might fall a few times but then it will become easier , I can remember the very first time I went ice skateing , it's slippery and its funny when you fall because you kind of take off sliding!! But its a really really fun thing to do not only that but if you can roller blade it shouldnt be that hard even though the two is different from one another hhmmm, Hey well try it out stay close to the railing like I did case you do fall then you can hold yourself up or go with a few friends and just all hold unto one another, its not as hard or scary as it seems trust me if i can do it, You can to ! Goodluck~

ooo not enough info ? Google ice skateing.

Am looking to make my half-mile walk to work more interesting, and possibly to do some very occasional recreational skating for exercise. Will be on streets or sidewalks. Don't care about doing tricks or going fast. Am old (30s) and married so looking cool is no longer a big priority.

Trying to compare inline skates to traditional roller skates. Which is easier? Which handles the "real world" surfaces of broken concrete and asphalt better?

Inline Skating vs Roller Skating?
in-lines are the way to go, they will handle the bumps and cracks of concrete much better than roller skates. Make sure to at least wear wrist guards while skating, when you fall the first thing you will do it to try and break your fall with your hands. this results in many wrist injuries. If you are a beginner I would recommend a hard shell boot, it will give you more ankle support. I would also recommend an abec 3 bearing, this will allow you to coast when you want to but will allow you to learn a bit quicker and keep you on your wheels longer than an abec 5 or higher. The higher the abec rating the less friction is produced allowing you to go faster and coast farther. Good luck and happy skating!
Reply:roller blades are definatly better on real world surfaces
Reply:In line skaters skate in a straight line. The rollers allow you to perform different figures as one can on ice, like spins and jumps and turns. Just for skating to work the in lines would do. Please remember to wear the knee and wrist guards. If they were around when I was growing up my parents would have had to perform an operation to get them off my feet! Once proficient with them combining them with walking poles would be a real whizz! Good luck.

How does rollerblading differ from roller skating (shoes?)/other manners of roller skating for weight loss?

due to an ankle break two years ago, i gained a lot of weight in the front of my body. i'm 54 and the sucka won't get me down, but i want to change it.

when a kid, i both ice skated and roller skated. the skates that we used here had 4 wheels per skate and a key. you'd use the key to clamp the skates onto standard shoes with separate shoe and sole. it was easy to skate, the skates lasted a long time since you really did not need different sizes each time your shoe size changed, and all you'd need do to stop is put one toe inwards to the other foot. we had few spills.

when i watch someone rollerblading (is that the same as "inline skating"?) outside on the sidewalk, i can see that the stomach area and waistline, at least, seem to get a good workout.

what about the abdominal muscles? is roller skating or rollerblading a good form of exercise to reduce fat in the belly area? TO BE CONTINUED BELOW:

How does rollerblading differ from roller skating (shoes?)/other manners of roller skating for weight loss?
rollerblading is essientially the same as roller skates, with the exception that you have to buy a 'whole shoe' now. I thought, oh,. how could i do this with just a straight line of wheels, but after a few tumbles, like normal, i was fine, except, when stopping with roller blades, you put ur heel down to stop, not like the 'skates' to stop you put your toes down.

make sure ur get pads! no matter how old, those falls hurt!

dont get 'heelys', cause they do long term ankle damage and well it sounds like you don't need anything more to happen. also , the HARD shell rolllerblades comfort your ankle and support it better than the soft ones, and i perfer those, but i am 25 and i feel older than i am, lol.

sizes normally run a bit bigger, but just try different types on. I go to walmart, target. etc... you don't want a real expensive pr just to start out with. I wear a 7 1/2 w, women, but in rollerblades, i wear a boys 4.
Reply:i want to try rollerblading! itd be fun!!!

i love youe attitue! hah thats great that it wont get you down! =]

sorry i dont really know anything about that but id love to get some roller scates

Roller Skating to practice ice skating?

Well i'm planning on starting ice skatin w/ in a few months (spring 2008)

and the rink isn't exactly close to my house so i can't really be there every day/ week

so to prepare could i practice most of the stuff on roller skates?

I know that its very diffrent, but i think that if i can do the stuff on roller skates than i can get a good clue of how to do them on ice skates

any thoughts or tips?

Roller Skating to practice ice skating?
Whether you use the quad roller skates or inline skates (rollerblades), these sound like the only options you have right now since you cannot ice skate. So go ahead and skate regardless how different the technique can be from ice skating . . . better to skate than not skate at all, right? Spring is not too far away anyway!

I rollerskated as a kid, and started ice skating as an adult. Though it is different, I think I took to ice skating fairly easily because I had an understanding of movement with "things" on my feet. I know a lot of competitive roller skaters who switched to ice skating as an adult . . . they have transferred to the ice really well. They look "powerful" as you muscle it in rollerskating so sometimes they have a problem with throwing themselves into ice jumps . . . their ice spins are quite strong. Perhaps it's a different scenario as these skaters did rollers for many years . . . but bottom line, they could still ice skate.

Look at Tara Lipinsky. She came from a roller skating background and obviously did well switching to ice. Some of her ice skating technique was funky (like double axel) because of her roller background, but still, it did help her.

Inline skates (rollerblades) are more similar to ice skating, but it has it's differences from ice skating too. They are more for "transportation", not so much for jumps or spinning like quads or ice skates.

If you are a beginner skater period, it will help. If you were already an advanced ice figure skater, the wheels would not really help with your ice skating technique.

Whichever you choose, just go for FUN and get that winter exercise in!! Just learn whatever you can with the equipment you have . . . don't worry so much about how it will affect your ice skating. When you finally get to the ice, there is going to be an adjustment period anyway (even if you started from no skating at all) . . . but at least you will have had the experience with moving wearing "things" on your feet!

Have a great winter skating session and good luck when you get to the ice in a few months!
Reply:I'm not sure if roller skating would be helpful. While many of the elements are similar, there are different techniques used and the feeling is different. Rollerblades may be more beneficial since the pushing technique is more closely related to skating. On rollerblades you might get a better idea for basic things like crossovers and swizzles.

One thing I would recommend is stretching for skating so when you do get into lessons it is easier to catch onto things and the more flexible you are, the more you prevent injury. Or this may sounds silly (we all do it), but you can practice some skating things just by putting on a pair of socks and finding a smooth floor. Maybe get a book that explains some skating things and work on them at home.
Reply:it will only help u with the same motion of you feet.i learned from experience. i went a bunch of times roller blading, but the first time on ice i wasn't as good because the blade is a lot thinner thean roller blades.
Reply:For some stuff you can the motion of skating across the ice is the same but its harder to spin and jump on rollar skates.
Reply:Well I suppose it might help a little bit but ice skating is different. I don't think it will help that much but it might. It is all about balance though so if you have good balance it shouldn't be extremely difficult.
Reply:roller skates or roller blades? roller blades have one line of wheels...you probably will be able to move on roller blades, but you can't jump or spin. personally i love to roller blade, and that developed from my figure skating.

Roller Skating - When, Where and what's your most memorable moment?

Roller skating on quads is one of the best experiences in my life. Growing up with metal wheels and strap on roller skates to Reidel Boot, chicago plates, and aluminum trucks with dance plugs. I have surely come a long way since then. Roller Disco was alive and is coming back. Tell me what you think.

What is easier roller skating or roller blading?

I grew up roller skating so I am accustomed to roller skates, but I wanted to try roller blading. Is roller blading hard or is it pretty much the same as roller skating?

What is easier roller skating or roller blading?
If you can roller skate, you'll have no problem roller blading. It's pretty much the same.
Reply:Personally I pretty much live in the rink and I'm in the top 80 percentile of the best skaters in Michigan....I am a great skater and personally i think rollerblades are easier and I've heard from many different people that rollerblades are easier... Report It

Reply:i prefer roller skates, i hated skating with rollerblades Report It

Reply:skating
Reply:roller blading. with the skate, I couldn't control my direction. but with the blades, the wheels are positioned in a straight line and I had better control
Reply:It is WAY different than regular skating. I had to learn it all over after I got the rollerblades. I prefer regular skates.
Reply:they are about the same to be honest but stoping i think is easier on roller blades i perfer blades luv em
Reply:its pretty much the same thing if not easier
Reply:if you can roller then I am sure you could blade.. I couldn't roller skate too good but I put on blades and and did fine....
Reply:i can roller skate, but i can't roller blade. to me its like ice skating, can't do that either!
Reply:For me its Roller Blading, but they both are easy when you try and practice.
Reply:roller skating is easier it is not really hard its quit similar and it is nice and fun to learn a new thing
Reply:Forget both.

Get a skateboard. It is much cooler!

I am 56 years old and I skateboard all the time.

It rocks!
Reply:obviously roller skating is easier than blading because you are easily more balanced on 4 wheels, but you get used to roller blading after a while, and youll find it just as easy as skating, and find roller skating harder than blading!
Reply:i hear that blading is easier because the rollar blade provides better ankle support.

Now...go rip it up!! : )
Reply:If you can roller skate You can roller blade. I wouldnt say one is harder than the other. They are just slightly different.

Why do my feet hurt so much after one or two minutes on ice skates, or roller blades, that I can't continue?

Oddly, if I can tolerate the pain long enough it passes, but it is so unbearable that I can rarely make it through the pain period. I like skating BUT...!

Why do my feet hurt so much after one or two minutes on ice skates, or roller blades, that I can't continue?
That happened to me, too. It is your muscles cramping up because they are not used to skating. I had the problem more with ice skates than roller blades. My coach said it would pass as I got better, and she was right, but man oh man did it take a long time for that to happen. And when I quit skating for a while, the pain was back when I started again. It can also be that the boots are not fitting properly, but if the pain goes away then it is probably just your muscles tensing up. It is murder! The only way to get past it is to skate more often. Perhaps the boots need to be broken in, too - new boots are stiff and painful for a while. I really sympathize. I would get horrible cramps in the bottom of my feet. It hurts me just thinking about it!
Reply:You sound as though you are on hire skates, they are murder. There is nothing like your own boots, whatever skating discipline you take up.You can get hip hop or disco quadlines, these have 100mm wheels and will not bother your feet because they are quads and extremely stable.Just get on line and google--HAIGHT STREET SKATING--it will give you some idea, there are many roller skate sites, just type in --QUADLINE SKATES,you will be surprised. When buying ,just order the same as your normal shoe size, you can always compensate with extra socks, if they are too loose you will get blisters.
Reply:It is most likely the skate's problem, but it could be your feet. It could be your feet/legs tensing up, thus wearing down your muscles quickly and making them hurt.

If not, its the skates not giving you support. Where exactly does it hurt? If its the ankle, you'll either need support there (new skates) or that gel padding. if its the arch, then you'll either need it punched out, or you'll need support there. If its anywhere in the toes or heel, it's most likely too small there, and you'll need it punched out or get new skates.

Ultamatly, see if you can find a pro shop, with people who understand all of this. Tell them exactly what the problem is, and they will give you a precise answer.

Hope that helps!
Reply:It is most likely that your skates aren't properly fitted possibly in the width or length. Good luck!
Reply:When I started ice skating, My feet hurted terribly. I just tried other sizers and either lossensed them up for tighten them. Your main problem is that they probably don't fit properly.
Reply:maybe your skates aren't a good fit for your feet. it's either too tight or too lose. i'm not sure about figure skates, but hockey skates are usually two sizes smaller that your shoe size. like, i have a size 5 shoe size but my hockey skates are a size 3.5. hope i helped in one way or another. you should really check your skates if they're a good fit or not.
Reply:well with figure skates it means that they are too big. i know that might seem weird but it is. roller blades i have no clue bc i am an figure skater and my feet did start to hurt when i just started out. If still not sure, ask the rink emploeyess that should help or you can ask a coach. YOu don't have to have a coach just to ask. just be nice about it.

Good Luck!!!!!

~SKITTLES~
Reply:If they are your own skates then they might be too small for you. If they are new it is because you haven't broken in your skates yet.
Reply:The reason your feet hurt in probably because your skates are not fitted properly.

You could try to wear the skates a little bit looser and see if that might help.

Yes.

Which is easier inline skates or roller blades/quads?

I'm going skating tommorrow, and I haven't skated since 6th grade. It takes me a while to get used to it, but Ill soon get it. I just need to know what is the best choice for someone who has trouble with skating. Also in addition to this question is this the techniques to skating?

-Make a V with your feet

-Bend knees slightly

-Don't look down

-March and don't walk

Which is easier inline skates or roller blades/quads?
As a beginner it is easier to stand up and move slowly on quads. (roller blades is a slang term for inline skates, Rollerblade is a brand name)

If you were going to be skating regularly, especially outdoors, I would recommend inline skates but that doesn't sound like the case here.

Don't try to march or walk. With your toes pointed out slightly, slide push off with one foot and roll forward on the other.

For your first strides, just step forward with the pushing foot and repeat in the other direction.

As you get the feel for it, you extend the time when you roll between pushing forward.

As you get better, decrease the angle that your toes are out and push more sideways.
Reply:Inline especialy if you wana do more tricks and there mutch faster i think
Reply:just glide. personally i think blades are easier and funner.

Will practicing my hockey moves on roller hockey skates help with my moves on the ice?

It definitly can help your puck/stick handling skills although the skating moves are quite a bit different between roller blades and hockey skates. The only real way to get better on your skates is to get on the ice as much as you can.

Will practicing my hockey moves on roller hockey skates help with my moves on the ice?
no. you are female. hockey is a mans sport.
Reply:The carry-over will be limited. Keep in mind, the frictionless surface of the ice is much different than maccadam. Skating on wheels is different than on blades, and I imagine you're wearing less equipment on roller skates than on ice skates. Also, the ball, or street-puck you have, weighs a different amount than a puck. Therefore, you will not benefit your ice hockey skills as much than if you were to practice on the ice.
Reply:Yes,the more you skate with a stick in your hand the more you learn.

And its a great leg workout.

Good luck
Reply:it obviously cant hurt. the more time stickhandling the better, even if your in flip flops
Reply:If it is something you can do on your rollerblades, then you can probably do it in your skates.

Your skating strides are a little different, but spins, rotations, transitions, are pretty much the same mechanics.

Once you master it on wheels, the same fundamental mechanics will still apply.

Your stick work will be slightly different as your rollerblades stand a little taller than you skates, so you'll have to fine tune those coordination drills.

Rollerhockey is pretty much an extension of ice hockey. So all things you do in one, is very similar in the other, with the exception of stopping.

Another odd advantage with rollerblades, you have to pick up your feet more, it helps exaggerate the motion, which when you do it back on the ice, it feels easier.
Reply:Oh yeah.

Any kind of Practice for a sport is good for you.

Finding your way to practice is a very good way to get better.

roller skating and ice skating is pretty similar - both need balance.

Good luck with hockey!
Reply:It will help your skating for sure! But, practicing like special stops and quick turns, not really the two are very different with that, but definitely do tons of stick handling this off season. And, way to go girl!
Reply:Definitely! It keeps you limber during the off season and you can keep improving your stick handling skills and fast foot work.
Reply:Of course. What would it hurt? I taught myself to ice skate based on my inline roller skating ability, so it obviously has a connection. If you're talking about quad roller skates, try inline ones. They're definitely closer to ice skates, and need about the same amount of balancing ability. As far as stickwork, although street hockey balls are much lighter than ice pucks, any kind of stickwork you can do playing roller hockey is great to keep your hands working the way you want.
Reply:not as much as you'd think. Ice and roller are totally different surfaces, and the pucks are completly different. an ice puck in heavier and will stay on your stick better because there is less friction on the ice. Roller pucks are lighter and tend to stick to the surface more. Especially if the runners are worn down. Moreover, rollerblades and ice skates use slightly different muscles in your legs. Ice skates have a smaller surface area and use more of the small stabalizer muscles in your legs. You will also find that your edges are vastly different between ice and roller skates.

All that being said..... It's always a good idea to practice. whether or not it's on ice or on a parking lot. Keep it up.

Im looking for some cheap roller hockey skates size 6 to 6.5 can any one help me im looking round 50 to £70?
Me and my kids all play hockey, or at least my kids that are old enough to walk play, so needless to say I'm no stranger to looking and purchasing hockey equipment. A couple of my favourite places to look are Hockey Giant, Great Skate %26amp; Peranis. They usually have some pretty good deals and excellent quality equipment. Check them out:

http://www.HockeyGiant.com

http://www.GreatSkate.com

http://www.Peranis.com

Also, if you're looking for slightly used skates and aren't really as worried about quality as you are price, I suggest looking on ebay. Especially at the end of the seasons lots of people sell their old skates that they don't want or don't fit anymore.

I would recomend looking at a Bauer or CCM skate. They're very nice looking and well made and I like the fits of both the CCM and the Bauer. If you want to go more high-end, then you may want to look at a Mission skate. I would never look at a Mission skate for ice hockey but they are a well-known and a major roller hockey skate maker. Many of their skates are very expensive so I like to stay away from them. Also, I wouldn't catch myself dead looking at a Nike skate, they're poorly made and too expensive for what they are. You may look at the Eastons but I'm not much a fan of the company for hockey - roller or ice. But go look at the Bauer and CCM skates, I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. Good luck finding the right ones!

if roller skates and hockey skates are the same brand and stuff, then probably Bauer, CCM, and Nike is actually starting to make skates and i would think that they have roller skates. i have Nike ice skates, and they work pretty well.

How are mission ice hockey skates? i know they make a good roller hockey skate?

All brands will depend on the model, but I've found most Missions to be very comfortable and durable. In my experience, a Mission feels better and holds up better than a comparable price-point Bauer or CCM. Although once you get up into really high end skates, there's not a HUGE difference.

How are mission ice hockey skates? i know they make a good roller hockey skate?
The Mission ice hockey skates are really good too, if you get the right kind. Some of them are amazing, some are okay, but me personally ill keep with my CCM Tacks
Reply:first of all are you going to play ice hockey? if yes, then i would not go mission as a hockey player myself i would only ever skate in bauer's nothing else if you want to be a serious hockey player i recommend my skates Bauer Vapor XXX i know there expensive but they are so worth the price. however if your not going to play ice hockey i would go mission because if you just want general skate you dont need really good/expensive skates. so it all depends on you and what you want to do.

Which roller hockey skates should I buy?

I'm not sure which ones to buy:

Mission Wicked 7

RBK 5K Pumps

CCM Vector PF10

Which roller hockey skates should I buy?
I have owned all 3 brands for ice and roller! It depends on your foot width. I started with CCM, tried Mission and went back to CCM. I have a wide foot and CCM/Reebok (same company) are more comfortable. I actually put a roller chassis on my ice boots because I feel the ice boots are better made and more comfortable. I have yet to find a comfortable roller hockey skate! I currently own a pair of Reebok 5K pumps and they are the most comfortable skates in my 15 years of hockey! I suggest you spend a little more for a stiffer boot since the 5K's are a little flimsy. I got my stuff cheap on E-Bay, but tried the skates on at a store first. If you have narrow feet, the Missions are fine! CCM has been around a lot longer and I feel that they make a better product! I hope this was more informative than the previous postings, especially the Devil fan who knows nothing about hockey!
Reply:IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH KIND YOU GET, THEY'LL ALL SLIDE ON THE ICE
Reply:i hear people talk about missions,,
Reply:I've had Mission blades before and they were really good. Also a reasonable price. RBK and CCM are gonna be more expensive just because of the name. Go to a store and try them on. If they all feel about the same get the cheapest one, which will probably be the Mission.
Reply:Fit should definitely drive this decision, but make sure you compare the quality of the chassis, wheels and bearings you'll be getting as well. Also consider what surface you'll be playing on.

If your skates come with indoor wheels and you mostly play on asphalt, those wheels are not going to last very long. What may seem like a great deal suddenly becomes an expensive lesson if you end up dropping an extra $100 to replace subpar or improper components that either explode early or were junk to start with.
Reply:I dont know what that guys talken about, Missions are more expensive, but there good. But personally, I got the CCMs, thats all I have ever used. But my wife uses Mission and she likes them better. I guess just try them all on, you'll be able to tell which ones are yours.

Question about roller blades and ice skates?

I want to learn ice skating but I can't due to the fact that it doesn't snow where I live plus, ice skating rinks cost a fortune.... If I train on roller blades first before going on ice skating, will that help me when the time comes that I will put on my ice skating shoes for the first time?

Question about roller blades and ice skates?
Rollerblading and ice skating . . . you would use similar muscles groups, so it can help - especially if you are just starting to skate (better than no skating at all, right?). You'll gain experience with transporting yourself with "things" on your feet - and build up strength and steadiness. Obviously the equipment and surface are different from ice skating . . . so keep in mind there will be differences in technique (that's why rollerblading is generally not recommended for already serious figure skaters).

Here's an article . . . something to try if/when you get to that point on your rollerblades!

Figure Skate on Inline Skates

How to Do Ice Skating Tricks on Inline Skates

http://figurespeedskating.suite101.com/a...

The experience may help you by the time you do get to go on the ice. Some adapt quickly from the get go - others take more time. Regardless, there will be some adjustment period to get the hang of ice skating.

I find that rollerbladers and rollerskaters transfer to the ice quite well. But, in my opinion, it's a lot harder for figure skaters to transfer to skating with wheels.

Oh - and when you do decide to train on ice - go for group lessons - that's the least expensive way to go!

Good luck!
Reply:watch the movie : "cutting the edge"

:-)

Its fun to rollerblade.

But you are gonna be surprised at the absence of friction (and speed) on the ice - and land on your ****!!

:-) which is ok to start with :-p
Reply:should help with balance and what-not, but rollerskating and ice skating are different when it comes to actually doing it... i sugges you try finding your balance on the skates, but try not to get too used to it lol

xx
Reply:roller blading and ice skating are very different. both different type of skates on different surfaces. roller blading can help you with balance so that you can balance with ice skating. but i can't guarantee you will be a good ice skater if you are a good roller skater. but it will be a little easier to ice skate if you've had some [roller] skating experience
Reply:it wont help you ive been skating since i was little and i did gymnastics too....it wont help you because the ice is slippery..so my suggestion to you is move somewhere else or tell your parents or who ever to go to work more often...

Are inline skates the same as roller blades?

inline skates just an other name for roller blades?

if not, is it ok to skate on the street with inline skates...

thanks

Are inline skates the same as roller blades?
YES, inline skates and rollerblades are the same thing, but much like tuna, albacore and chunk light are the same thing, only different.

The reason that we refer to inline skates most often times as "roller blades" is that the first company to successfully market inline skates was Rollerblade!!

Keep in mind that INLINE is exactly that, all of the wheels are IN LINE with one another, as opposed to offset, as with roller skates.

There are different inline skates for different activities, such as hockey, stunting, exercise, speed-skating, figure, etc.. My advice would be to decide which activity you wish to participate in, and then head off to a REPUTABLE sporting goods store and tell the sales person what is on your mind. Since we are on the subject of your mind, PLEASE wear a helmet, okay!?

Da king that is horriable info what mission skate you see for 300 maybe last years models get the new tour line but it is all PP
Reply:www.inlinehockeycentral.com

as for skates, it depends on what fits your foot best.

Tour skates are better for people with a high arch.

Missions if you don't.

Personally, I've always skated Mission skates.

You can get top-of-the-line Heliums from '06-'07 for $200-$300, I'd try eBay first.

Is it advisable to use roller hockey skates for cross training?

or should I buy aggressive blades instead, so I can use 'em for playing roller hockey and cross training as well. Thanks!

Is it advisable to use roller hockey skates for cross training?
You can wear roller hockey skates to cross train, but I would suggest buying some extra sets of wheels to have on hand. I wear mine outside of roller hockey and have never had a problem, except for the pavement tearing up the wheels.
Reply:you can, but i'm sure anyone would advise you to buy more aggressive blades so they will hold up easier. roller hockey skates will do just fine though if you don't have much cash.

What are some good roller hockey skates for under 60.00?

no: Bladerunners or Tour skates

What are some good roller hockey skates for under 60.00?
If you want something new, the best thing to do is browse the internet and stores for clearance specials and sales, other than that your best bet is used gear. Or, you could raise your budget $10 or $20 dollars and find some low-end modes new. I've done pretty well at Play-it-again sports, but many locally owned sporting good stores and proshops have used skates. By now, the inline hockey skate has been pretty well perfected, as far as chassis set-up goes, so your chances of finding a good used skate are good. Here's a link to some good deals for skates, there's a few things close to your price range. http://www.hockeygiant.com/inline-hockey...
Reply:You could check a Play it Again Sports. That is the best I can do.
Reply:If you know your size by brand, go to ebay. Better deal for much less $$. Find your size @ hockeygiant.com. They list the sizes and the brand vs. shoe size.

Roller Derby Cobra Speed Skates?

I got some Roller Derby Cobra Speed Skates for Christmas. Do I have to break these in? When I got them, the wheels didn't move around aot so i rode them through the house(my mom doesn't know lol). the wheels loosend up but are they "broken in" yet????

Roller Derby Cobra Speed Skates?
You will break them in the more you wear them. /They will get a little more comfortable the more you wear them..

The wheels not rolling, that could be the nuts are screwed on to tight.. or the bearing in the wheels could be a lower grade ABC 3,4,5 all are not really great for getting lots of spin on the wheels. ABC 7-9 are great.

Cobra Skate are for the type of skater that just skates for fun less than once a week. If you are planning on skating more than that you should get a pair of ridel skates.

there's a link to ridel there.

What size roller hockey skates am i?? i am a size 8 and a half shoe size?

i need help what size should i buy for me for a size 8 and a half shoe size......the skates i am gettin r

http://www.epuck.com/mis7wk1sktsr.html

just tell wat size i should get....thx

What size roller hockey skates am i?? i am a size 8 and a half shoe size?
"B" is incorrect. the difference in shoe size is varying depending on the brand. I do know, however, that Mission (and possibly Tour if you're buying roller) are two of the best and coincidentally use your American shoe size. Try this web site for full size listings: http://hockey.philbricks.net/page.htm?PG...

PS: BAUER, CCM, GRAF and EASTON Hockey Skates fit 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size for senior sizes, 1 size down in the senior sizes for growing feet, and 1 size down in the junior and youth sizes. NIKE and MISSION skates fit true to shoe size to 1/2 size down from shoe size.
Reply:well..hockey skates are always 2 sizes smaller than your regular shoes so i would try 6 1/2.

Roller hockey skates size E width compared to size D?

I recently bought Mission BSX skates in a size 8E online. No shops had the Mission BSX skates in a size 8D so I had to buy the 8E's. Is the E width that much different from D and will I hurt my ankle or have wider feet due to the extra space in E widths?

Roller hockey skates size E width compared to size D?
Every skate manufacturer cuts their skates different. The difference in width shouldn't be too bad, you might actually find that they fit better than D width skates. When you get them, IN YOUR HOUSE, try the skates on and lace them up. Do NOT go outside with them! If you do and the wheels show signs of use, you won't have the option of returning them.

If you feel your foot sliding around at all, try putting them on with a second pair of socks. I don't usually recommend this because a second pair of socks will cause one more layer to cause friction, and friction causes blisters. (This is going to sound stupid, but socks come in sizes too, so making sure you have socks that fit will help cut down on any chance of blisters.)

If it's only the ankle that is loose, you can buy ankle pads to put inside the skate. Don't just tape the ankle. If you do that, then you're going to break the boot in weird and I guarantee that not only will the boot break down quicker than it should, and it will also cause problems with your skating. Depending on your age, could even cause problems with your feet if you are still growing.

Remember - Skates are supposed to fit snug. Not loose, not tight...snug. If they don't fit right, return them. Your feet will thank you, you'll skate better, and your skates will last longer if they fit right. It's better to return the skates and get a different brand / model that might not be as cool but fit right.
Reply:There usually isn't much of a difference. If it becomes a problem however, you can just wear double socks and put tape around your ankles.
Reply:Sorry - ice hockey questions only around here - that is a 50 point deduction for you...

Where can I buy skates (roller blades) in Taipei/Taichung?

I will be going to Taiwan this dec. Can anyone advise me where to get cheap and good roller blades in Taipei or Taichung. I'm looking for the brand of Rollerblades or K2. Does anyone know what is the pricing range of the above mentioned brand?

Where can I buy skates (roller blades) in Taipei/Taichung?
There is a place near the Brother Hotel on Nanking north road

or Fu-Hsing N. Road

good luck
Reply:i bought my skates at the shop near shilin.
Reply:Go to department store such as like Sogo or ShinKong-Mitsukoshi, they are on sale now (annual anniversary and coming christmas and winter sale...etc)

Check price there first.

Of course there are some other sports store/shop in Taipei and Taichung.

In Taipei, ride the MRT to "公館" (Gongguan) station, there are some cheap shops there.
Reply:There's a shop in Taichung that sells skates. I'm not sure if there cheap, but It's a specialty store that sells skates and provides skating lessons. It's located in front of the National Museum of Natural Science, directly across the road from Caves Bookstore. I'm not sure about the price though.
