How does rollerblading differ from roller skating (shoes?)/other manners of roller skating for weight loss?

due to an ankle break two years ago, i gained a lot of weight in the front of my body. i'm 54 and the sucka won't get me down, but i want to change it.

when a kid, i both ice skated and roller skated. the skates that we used here had 4 wheels per skate and a key. you'd use the key to clamp the skates onto standard shoes with separate shoe and sole. it was easy to skate, the skates lasted a long time since you really did not need different sizes each time your shoe size changed, and all you'd need do to stop is put one toe inwards to the other foot. we had few spills.

when i watch someone rollerblading (is that the same as "inline skating"?) outside on the sidewalk, i can see that the stomach area and waistline, at least, seem to get a good workout.

what about the abdominal muscles? is roller skating or rollerblading a good form of exercise to reduce fat in the belly area? TO BE CONTINUED BELOW:

rollerblading is essientially the same as roller skates, with the exception that you have to buy a 'whole shoe' now. I thought, oh,. how could i do this with just a straight line of wheels, but after a few tumbles, like normal, i was fine, except, when stopping with roller blades, you put ur heel down to stop, not like the 'skates' to stop you put your toes down.

make sure ur get pads! no matter how old, those falls hurt!

dont get 'heelys', cause they do long term ankle damage and well it sounds like you don't need anything more to happen. also , the HARD shell rolllerblades comfort your ankle and support it better than the soft ones, and i perfer those, but i am 25 and i feel older than i am, lol.

sizes normally run a bit bigger, but just try different types on. I go to walmart, target. etc... you don't want a real expensive pr just to start out with. I wear a 7 1/2 w, women, but in rollerblades, i wear a boys 4.
Reply:i want to try rollerblading! itd be fun!!!

i love youe attitue! hah thats great that it wont get you down! =]

sorry i dont really know anything about that but id love to get some roller scates
